Clutch slip when warm

So my clutch slips but this only happens on 3rd, 4th or 5th gear and only when the bike starts warming up. When cold it doesn't happen at all.

Would you reckon this is related to the clutch plates or springs? Or both? Bike's got around 20,000 kilometres (apx. 12K miles).

Most likely the springs are the issue, if Designer gets more springs in stock that would be your best bet. If not Barnett Springs are highly recommended.

But just in case what kind of oil are you using? Car oil can cause a bit if slipping.

The oil is thicker when cold and hence will make the clutch grip more. When it's hot it thins out and the clutch is more slippery.

Ultimately it is the springs - Suzuki put in relatively light springs as they used a type of slipper clutch. Heavier springs will remove this function but it's not a big deal.

Am using motorcycle semi-synth oil (Rock Oil Guardian 15W50 ).

How old is your Oil

15w50 is a HD oil - the 1400 uses 10w40. Preferably mineral and not synthetic.

Not necessarily that the heavier oil will make you clutch slip, but it's the easiest thing to change to see if it helps fix your problem.

I use 10W50 (not 15W sorry) as I live in a hot climate and the hot temperature should help.

Will try to change oils tho....
