Buying Tires
When I buy new tires, must I always buy a new inner tube and rim strip, also?

Re: Buying Tires
IMO, a new tube is cheap insurance against a blowout; they get a lot of stress around the stem during installation and removal. I think the strip should only be inspected for damage, and only replaced if it has the potential of pinching the tube, or sliding to one side and exposing the tube to the spoke nipples.

Re: Buying Tires
If you decide to buy a tube...
For the rear, buy one with a 90 degree metal valve stem (TR87). it makes checking and filling so much easier.
A straight metal stem is best for the front. (TR4)

Re: Buying Tires
Buy one that is one size smaller than the stock size even if you are stuck with a straight valve stem. MUCH less chance of pinching it during installation.dwd58 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 5:59 pmI agree 100 % on the 90 degree metal valve stem. A big help !
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Re: Buying Tires
I always get a right angle metal stem for the rear tire. When I bought the bike there was a straight stem and it was a pain in the ^ss.
