Speedometer drive replacement magnet rotor
Hi all, I have a '99 intruder vs1400. I have replaced the speed cable and tested that the speedo works with the new cable. When I pulled the speedometer hub off the front tire, the internal rotor that has the magnets was pretty much disintegrated, I have been trying to find just a replacement rotor insert rather than buying a whole new hub. Any recommendations on where to look, or do I just have to buy a whole new hub? Thank for any assistance!

Re: Speedometer drive replacement magnet rotor
The stock speedometer drive contains no magnets, it is a worm gear drive.
Perhaps yours is some aftermarket product??

What you can't see in the photos on that site is the other side of the drive - the part driven by the wheel. It has metal tabs that fit into grooves in the hub, so the wheel turns that side of the speedo drive, and the gears that spin the cable.

The two tangs fit into the slots in the front wheel.
If installed incorrectly, they get flattened out and will tear up the seal behind it.
