If there is a Wiring Mod worth doing ...it's this one;
https://www.moccsplace.com/images/charg ... grades.pdf

As Mocc says,...helps the Charging System to "See" the Battery better. :rock:

Has anyone done this modification with the 1400. Is it exactly the same?

The wiring should be the same but the RR and starter solenoid are in different places.

I have done this and it does make for faster recharging of the Battery after starting. Also, it helps maintain the Battery's charge when Riding. Doing this allowed me to add Heated Gloves. And others (on the old "Purple Board" ) who did this to their 1400's could then add more Lighting/Equipment up to as point, that is.

It is also nearly the same Wiring Mod you see in the PDF file from Mocc's Placeas the 1400 and 1500 are almost identical in this aspect of wiring.

Here's a better image of what you are trying to achieve:

Image

Basically you want to solder the joins on the 3 wires from the stator to the RR to eliminate the connector block.....then run an extra fused +ve wire from the RR direct to the +ve battery terminal (in the image they tap into the +ve battery wire at the starter solenoid for convenience)....in the same way also directly ground the -ve from the RR. End goal is for the charging from the RR to go directly to the battery instead of going through the harness first.

The blue blocks in the picture are solder joins.
