Intruders-Alert

The Dyna is a good investment if you like to play with the different timing curves and rev limiter. I have tried the first three curve settings, can't really tell much difference but I did set the rev limit to 5500rpm and like it there. I usually shift at around 5000 when I'm getting on it so I don't think that setting is too low by any means.

I've been seriously considering one of these also (when funding is allowed). My understanding is curve 4 works best on the stock setup. Some folks like curve 3. Iridium plugs gapped at .040 are also recommended in conjunction with these. Rev limiter at 5500 is right on it. Maybe worth 9-10 horsepower. I'm sure this is the main reason the early Intruders have so much more grunt than later models. BTW, Ignitech makes a model called TCIP4 that's fully programmable with a laptop and serial port. It's slightly cheaper than the Dyna 3000 and offers the ability to modify the curve to your liking rather than having to select from fixed settings. IA has a post from way back that has the code to program one of these puppies on a stock setup as a known working starting point. You can tweak it further from there. I guess it depends on how much time and patience you have to play with it.

Is there a noticible amount of power increase... Top speed etc? Is this the secret between the old 87 intruders being more powerful than the new ones? I see one on eBay now for $280

Actually I did. It said last one. I did a google search and went to each site checking prices. I was surprised to find this one below $220. If you're ever down around San Antonio, I'll let you touch it...

I have mine for a few years now after the rejet with Factory Pro 1.0, stock air boxes and the iridium plugs. A CA model 2007 s83.
I didn't "feel" the hose power increase and the top speed was 100 mph (some where over the Angeles Crest Hwy on a flat straight road) that I tried a few years back riding with a few members from the old intruderalert forum.

On the Dynatek, I just set it at the recommended setting, which I need to go back to my records to find out.

Hey Subin! I just joined this forum and glad to see some old riding buddies from AI and the Crest! I'm in Utah now; still going strong with my VS 1400, but added and ADV bike to the stable. To stay on topic, I got the Dyna 3000 when my stock CDI failed 15 years ago. No problems since, and the bike has felt more energetic if not more horsey.

did somebody put a 1400 stock on a dyno , and than with a dyna after ??
