Just picked this up for a steal!

Post by Jerseyfreshh89 »

Traded an Xbox1 for an 87 Honda Hurricane 600f1.
Traded the f1 straight across for it.
It's a 1989 intruder 1400cc VS. 55xxx miles on it. Clutch needs adjusted, little hard to drop into neutral when idling, Front cylinder backfires, front and back brakes need bled, turn signals need hooked back up, and there's a weird switch someone rigged into the side panel by the fuses, Peru sure he used it for the "lights" that he rigged to the front to replace the blinkers he took off.
The intake under the seat had the ORIGINAL filter, which fell apart as I tried to remove it. Need to take a pressure washer or site house to the mesh screen because it's all gunked up and nasty. Needs a few random screws that are missing. They're not anything TOO important right now. Anyway, let me know what you think. Image

Hopefully I uploaded the pictures right :donno:

Late 80s are desirable models. Higher HP than the restricted later models. Clutch doesn't get adjusted, only bled. Contact Designer for springs that will give you that friction zone at mid to high RPM you've been longing for. Stock foam air filters are junk. K&N drop ins are all you need, either brand or knockoffs will do. Give the carbs a good once over and sync, as they could be out, making it run poorly. Otherwise, good score. [emoji106]
Current rides: 03 HD FLHT & 01 Yamaha XVS650(BIP)
Former: 87 Suzuki VS700, 94 BMW K1100LT & 91 Honda CB250

I don't want to own them all, just ride them all.

Thanks, I'm awful proud of it! Figured out yesterday, the bolts holding the rear left shock wasn't even finger tight. Should've gone over it a little better... there's 8friggin inches between inside of the rear fender and top of the tire... I'm not fond of that. I want long and low. There's a local bike yard, like 15 miles from me. I'm going to have a look maybe Saturday. The shocks are on the lowest dial. Other than blocks, or dog bones, I'm at a bit of a loss :-( funny part is, the day after I traded my hurricane to this guy, he posted it back on Craigslist, looking for another cruiser. just something smaller. So as far as the bad is concerned, horn doesn't work, clutch is wonky, front brakes need bled. Back brakes should work, but the pedal his the floor with no reaction from caliper :-\ . Need new air filters. Tank has been patched with jb cold-weld. I think that's all the bad. At least, most of it... I've got my work cut out for me. :lmao: any ideas on lowering would be greatly appreciated! -Jersey

A pair of shorter rear shocks (2nd hand?) but it is not a good idea to go lower than 11 1/2" eye to eye, I have 10 1/2" on my 750, handles like crap but looks great.

The ones on it are stock 12's. I just really want to close that gap between fender and wheel... by far though, most comfortable ride I've had in a while.

I don't know what profile you have on the rear but a 150/90 might help a bit to close the gap.

Lechy, I can run out and take a look. I'll let you know what I've got, and show you the gap.

A 170/90 will give almost 1" higher profile. Measure the shocks again from nut centers.

Ok, so here's the newest with the 1400...

1. Removed chrome side pieces, and sissybar
2. Replaced the mustang seat with a solo seat off of an 02 sportster
3. Pulled both front and rear air boxes, and put in K&N pod filters.
4. Worked out wiring problem with the running lights.
5. Took off rear fender, installed a 2007 sportster fender.
6. Pulled fender back off, cut it way back, on both front and back of the fender.
7. Put on a small, round tail light. (Used to be a blinker!!)
8. Tucked and hid some wires, where rear airbox was.
9. Bent the license plate mount, moved it to side of fender, in front of the left shock.
10. Moved license plate light to left side of fender.

Will post pictures!

Are you interested in getting rid of the mustang seat? And if so, how much?

Thanks,
