Ok so i need a smaller battery (about 1.5" shorter) for a bobber i'm building to one i'm looking at has (8Ah and 190C.C.A.) And the stock one has (10Ah and 180C.C.A) so on the cold cranking Amps i'm alright but my question is on the Amp-hour will 2Ah would make a difference??
I doubth it will but would not mind another opinion.

Re: Battery Question
I assume by bobber you mean stripping a bunch of unneeded electrical and going minimalist? If so, a couple AH shoudidn't make big difference. Though, I'll admit, I don't have a service manual to check the amount of AH to start and run the bike.
Current rides: 03 HD FLHT & 01 Yamaha XVS650(BIP)
Former: 87 Suzuki VS700, 94 BMW K1100LT & 91 Honda CB250
I don't want to own them all, just ride them all.

Re: Battery Question
2Ah is ALOT, but
IF you have no problem starting it at the first time (cold) then it wouldnt be a problem, as it fires up, the battery will be recharged by the rectifier and also by riding it. (warm engine starts no problem)
IF you have problem starting it when its cold. then you would drain the battery faster, hence not able to start after the battery drained out.
by the way, cranking amps also plays important role
just a basic electrical rules.

Re: Battery Question
Or try an agm battery. The one I bought for my 96vs1400 was about 1.5 inches shorter than stock.

Re: Battery Question
But do know...AGM batteries don't peter out....they flat give up all at once. When they give up that is. With good care they can last a good while.
