Tons. They changed the color schemes every few years.
Current rides: 03 HD FLHT & 01 Yamaha XVS650(BIP)
Former: 87 Suzuki VS700, 94 BMW K1100LT & 91 Honda CB250
I don't want to own them all, just ride them all.

My 99 is silver and black.
My 87 was a color called Wineberry.

The following site has pics of many different years.

While looking for the above links I came across a road test of the 1400, from Cycle Magazine 1987. Kinda interesting, it is pretty good.

I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Re: Stock colors
In North America there was a colour change every year as far as I know. Black has been available every year & is also available in a different colour or variation on the scheme. For example the 2003 VS 1400 was Silver with a beautiful Blue & in 2004 it was the same silver but paired with a Purple/Wine colour

Re: Stock colors
Does anyone know when they switched engine colors? Or is it an optional thing? My 97 has a silver engine, on the 03 it is black.

I was going to ask how you ride with buckhorns? That's the first thing I change on every bike that has them.

I think Buck horns are by far the most comfortable handlebarenforcer wrote:I never thought they did.JamesC wrote:Does anyone know when they switched engine colors? Or is it an optional thing? My 97 has a silver engine, on the 03 it is black.

Re: Stock colors
Buckhorns work for me too....beach bars twist my wrist kinda the wrong way, and drag bars require me to lean forward....somehow leaning on a cruiser seems to be at cross purposes. If you want a sport bike, buy a sport bike.

I go dragbars on my bikes. Most natural hand position I have found. If you get a pulled back enough riser they work great.jonnycando wrote:and drag bars require me to lean forward....somehow leaning on a cruiser seems to be at cross purposes
Now back to the original poster.....
Everyone knows that emerald green with pearl pluto was the fastest and best.

Re: Stock colors
I have been riding with the buckhorns for 3 years now, and have gotten used to them. In a tight turn, like a U-turn, I throw my knee out as the bars bring the elbows in too close.I was going to ask how you ride with buckhorns? That's the first thing I change on every bike that has them.

Re: Stock colors
As far as handlebars go, I was thinking of switching to mini-apes; I think they are 10 inch. Anybody ever gone that route? Pics would be nice.
