Lost of spark plig tall on the forum lately.
So from my understanding of a prior thread, I can get better spark from the non resistor plug. Instead of using the DPR8EA9. I can get DP8EA9.

Re: Spark plug replacement
Correct. You can also use DP7EA9 for if you notice a lot of carbon build up on your plug. Number indicates heat range which is how well the plug dissipates heat. Hotter the plug, the easier it burns off the residual carbon. Colder plug, less chance of predetonation (spark knock). Careful though, too cold could leave carbon deposits. One range in either direction doesn't usually yield any issues.Leckbass wrote:Lost of spark plig tall on the forum lately.

I always have a little more carbon build up on the front cylinder then the rear cylinder. I've been playing with the air-fuel mixture for a while comma but I haven't checked the plug in probably a thousand miles

Re: Spark plug replacement
If you want/need a hotter spark without the increase in radio interference, you can use the iridium version. The finer tip concentrates the spark, making it effectively hotter, and the hardness of the tip makes the plug last quite a bit longer. I don't know if the extra life makes up for the extra $$, but my bikes sure run better with the iridium plugs. Even my old CB450, which has resistors in the caps, runs better, even though the total resistance is higher.

Pulled out the plugs this morning, about 1000 miles on the plugs. Front still a little darker than the rear, rear looks good. Plugs are iridiums. Still thinking about switching to the non resistors.

You can always change your caps to ones without resistors.
It's getting harder and harder to find the plugs without resistors

Only if you buy iridiums. I've had no problem finding NGK coppers without resistors.scootermcq wrote:You can always change your caps to ones without resistors.
