so the guy i bought the bike from said he did a bunch of mods but i dont trust his work. so today i had some free time and went to check the rear air cleaner to see what he did. from what i can tell he cut the intake tube to the air box shorter and put in a k&n filter but behind the filter i found a mesh screen is this normal

Yes the screen is normal. It keeps the oem foam element from being sucked in.

What you mean he cut the tube shorter?
If the k&n is drop in as in it fits over that screen.. The the tube should be attached to the top of that box and not cut shorter.
Do you mean k&n pod attached to a cut shorter tube and hanging inside box?

the filter was a k&n drop in not the pod but i will go pods soon. but here are a few pics of the tube. i just ended up removing it all together. also i keep seeing post about people drilling the airbox is that just with the drop in filter to let more air in and would it be bad to just cut a huge hole in the box to allow more air to the filterImage

Well the way he's butchered THAT I'd be pretty unsure of the rest of the mod's he has done too! Sure it's not important there but how hard is it to cut rubber tidily???
