Indicators flashing fast

Hi All
My indicators are playing up, 2005 S83 Boulevard, stock equipment;
- initially I noticed turning left the flasher was blinking the indicators too fast and slightly erratically
- checked all connections, tightened etc
- this morning indicator flash rate is fast and erratic for both left and right turns
- seems more 'normal' at idle than >2000rpm

I suspect the flasher unit has had its day? Any similar experience? Replacement part number? Reccomended electronic (rather than bimetallic) replacement item?

Thanks heaps

Usually fast flashing indicates a bad bulb.
Could be a short within the bulb, but it also could be a short elsewhere.

I once had a short in the harness where the harness came around the neck. Constant flexing in that area caused my signals to act up similar to yours.
They would intermittently act up.

Thanks navigator - traced and tested from switch to lamp...and found it was the battery terminal! Less than an eighth of a turn to tighten it, but that was enough it seems

Actually, there's another reason to add star washers; seems that some bikes came with bolts for the terminals that were cut about 1/2 thread too long, so would bottom out before actually clamping the terminals properly. The extra was taken up by the washers, and the locking feature was a bonus; flat washers would let the bolts loosen over time. The recommendation became so common, that it started to receive chuckles.
