Tubing diameter for manometer?

Post by panamaniac »

Ordering this to do a carb sync—can anyone tell me what diameter plastic tubing to get to make the manometer?

5mm ID is ideal, you may be able to get by with 3/16" ID.
It needs to fit tightly.

You may need to put orifices in each end so that the engine does not suck in your fluid.
You want the fluid to move within the tube and not be consumed by the engine.

Not sure what you mean about orifices on both ends, can you explain please?—what I read/watched on the videos is that one good safeguard is just to use a LOT of tubing + be ready to switch off the bike quickly if needed.

The one I made has a pilot jet at each end of the tubes to slow down the air flow. You could also use an air valve from an aquarium to shut the flow.... or an inline fuel tap from a lawnmower would also work.
