Pros and cons of 5 degree raked triple trees? 2003 Vs800

Post by Chaulkboard »

I have a 2003 vs800 and am looking to install a small rake to it, best way I have found so far is to add custom triple trees (I don't want to cut the neck). I found some custom triple trees with a 5 degree rake, has anyone installed something like this, if so, what are the pros and cons of the raked trees and what forks would I have to install (if any), 4 over stock maybe?

I haven't used 5* trees, but 4" over tubes seems reasonable.
IMO this method will change your trail measurements and possibly your handling.
Chopper kits from AME or Seeger provide an offset adapter for the neck, and are bolt on kits...no cutting required.
With the 14* adapter and 8" over tubes, trail remains the same and handling is not an issue.
I have a Seeger kit on mine, it rides great, but I don't think Seeger makes them for the intruder any more.
