It seems to me the engine block and all are the same and will fit in the frame, but there might be other peripheral things that might need to be worked out to make this swap reliable.
We have some EXPERTS on the 700/750/800 sized Intruders here that will guide you.
Lechy and Navigator come to mind first off.

Straight swap, you will probably need the 800 carbs and CDI.

The engine fits perfectly, but I had problems with the wiring. The engine runs like a watch. Today we are doing a test drive
