So back to the starting issue - have you tried a new solenoid?

Re: Hard starting hot
Not yet waiting on the clutch disks to arrive. The new springs are here and wow are they stiff. I'm almost 100% sure its a compression lock type problem because last time I started it cold it started right up and I left it idle for 10mins while I got my riding gear ready. The something came up and I had to shut it off. Came back 10 mins later and as I started it it locked up solid. I let off the starter and it started right up with a loud BANG out the exhaust. Unfortueately I didn't get a voltage reading on the battery because I didn't expect it. It starts to crank then locks up and if you let off and hit it again it starts right up. When it locks up you can hear the starter is still fully engaged try to turn.
