Flasher Buzzing

Post by MJM »

Hi everyone.

Hoping to get some insight into an issue I'm having.

I installed new LED signals all around + new tail light
+ EP34 flasher (ground going to fuse box auxiliary)

Brake lights/ running lights are working fine.

When the signal switch is flipped the signal light will illuminate (all 4 working - will light up) and stay solid + the flasher is buzzing.

Any ideas??
Thanks

2 issues...
1st you need to buy and replace the flasher relay for an electric one
2nd you will.need to install diods on the flasher line to prevent both sides from flashing.

Here are some examples, but not necessarily the best price on the flasher

I did purchase an electronic EP34 flasher - this flasher is LED compatible, however I have added additional lights to the bike so maybe its not powerful enough... :Umm: I'm going out tonight to purchase the "heavy duty" version on the EP34 - the EP34L. I'll install the new flasher + charge the battery again and hopefully this will fix my problem.
I've looked over all of my grounds in relation to the signals and everything is clean and secure. All other electronics, i.e.: running lights, brake lights, horn, turn signal switch, highbeam, dummy lights, speedo light, etc. work as they should.

To clarify the issue; Say I flip the signal switch to the left - the 2 left signal lamps (not all 4) with illuminate and stay solid (they do not blink).
In addition, the flasher relay is emitting a continuous buzzing sound.

Could ANY ground on the bike effect the turn signals? Say a sub-par ground on the tail light? (even though the tail lights work perfectly).

I hope I'm being clear with my issues and hope to get some insight.
Thank you everyone

I apologize (I'm Canadian),
When I originally shared this post, all 4 signal lamps were lighting up at once.
I have solved that issue - the front lamps I purchased are not compatible for running lights like the stock lamps - knowing very little about electronics, I thought I could splice the signal wire and running light wire together... NOPE
Disconnecting that and setting it up with no running lights on the front solved that issue pretty quick

Could there be an adjustment on your electronic flasher? I just double-checked the one I had and mine has an adjustable flash rate, maybe yours is set too high or not set at all?

I'm not sure if that's the correct answer or not but something to check out

SOLVED [emoji2]

The EP34L was the answer + a fully charged battery.

The standard EP34 was not strong enough I guess for all the lights I'm running. On the upside I have a brand new EP34 flasher to get rid of if anyone needs one!
