Well it happened......Traded my 05 S83 for a 07 M50.I really wanted the FI & cast wheels......Plus I'm not getting younger & wanted more comfort & ease of handling.I hope I don't regret this.

Blain, I hate to break it to you, but you had one of the nicest S83s on here. I am not impressed with the trade. Maybe it is not too late to run back and get your bike. Keep the M50 if you want, but get your bike back!

I loved that bike but she was just knocking the guts outta me on a long run....Plus I'm loosing strength in my forearms & found her increasingly harder to maneuver at low speeds.

I rode my C50 TO Savanna and back to middle of Ky.. Thinks its the same drive line but a little more cruiser.I have the cast wheel C50 most are wire. This one had 6,000 when I got it and now has 36,000 .All money spent is tires, gas, and oil changes. They do not seem to be as long life as the 1400 as cam chain guides tend to fail.My dealer told me ablot all they had replaced were just because they started making noise and thought most would go a long time with out going out.The 07and later he felt were better than the early ones.Hope he is right. Put 45,000 on my 1400 but it was the worse cold weather starting bike ever owned. All my Harleys would out start it below 30. The C50 seems lots better but guess the Fi has a lot to do with that? Is that ammo cans on the M50? Hope you like it a lot and feels good on trips. My C50 feels good on short day trips but my big bikes and great on tour little 650 Vstrom have spoiled me and never took the C50 out of state since that trip to Ga. coast. :putput:

Yes.......Ammo cans.......They gotta go!!!!.....I would think the M50 would be the longer life motor being as it's liquid cooled & built to closer tolerances.

Yes you would.Did not know this till I got mine. The late great Dr.Bob was the one that told lots of us the first time we learned of it.He had one that went bad at about the miles mine has now 36,000 and had bought another unit from a salvage yard low mile at a good price. They feel good for a relaxed slow ride. The 1400 is not near as fast as they feel [emoji2] . A big true sport bike will wake you up fast if you think cruisers are fast. 71 now and all ways did like a slow fun cruiser in the stable and still do. :putput:

I think Dr.Bob had a 05 with the factory mags like mine does. Like I said can not nit pick mine too much as has been trouble free for 30,000 miles on a $3,250 half list at the time bike and had a $400 Suzuki shield on it and low sissy bar.

hey, blaine, both of those scoots are nice. i rode a 96 800 for three years and 38k miles with nary a problem except an electrical glitch from wiring under the seat.
i'm always eyeballing the newer M50s, particularly cuz of the redesigned rear fender. after riding two sport bikes - ninja 650 and v-strom 650 - i considered a new M50. its low center of gravity fools me about handling heavier bikes...it feels great on the floor, but would i get into trouble on the road? heck, i dunno.
anyhow, i always say it doesn't matter what you ride...it's that you ride. have fun, stay, safe, and all that stuff.
btw, ammo cans are kinda cool...different, fur shur.

I doubt you would have any problems.....The M50 handles like a dream with the 130 front tire.....Well balanced too......It's starting to grow on me. Lol
