Brand new member from belgium

Post by AbsolemJackdaw »

Hello everyone !

I inherited a 600 Intruder from a friend that passed away.
I'd rather have my friend, but I have her favourite bike that I cherish instead.

The bike ran a bit rough, but after some work and new tires (they dated from 2000 ._. ) she runs a fair bit better !

The bike is as good as stock all over expect for the addition of a clock and saddlebag bars that I found and added. The bags came later because the wife of my friend had bought her saddlebags before she passed away. The bags sadly don't fit and weren't the most expensive either. I suspect a a shady website with wrong information. I have found the same bags elsewhere under "harley davidson 883 saddlebags" too...

It's a 600 and way to tiny for my own 6'2 feet tall European stature so my current gf rides around on it.

For being a '96 and having being stored away for ten years at one point I find the bike to be very shiny...

Here's the mandatory pictures :D

I came to the forums because I've got some wrenching questions left ...
I'll see you gearheads in the technical section ;)

Welcome.

Have to say I've never heard of a 600 variant of these.

Nice bike.

Going to be honest, me neither!
On partzilla I check out the 800's for part numbers,
Google queries have trouble with the term 'vs600'

The vin plate isn't lying though, it clearly states 598cc's !
Running the vin trough most websites results in nothing, but there's one or two that are able to place it as a 600 chopper from suzuki..

Correction : while I was writing this I did some lookup work at the same time.
My vin is JS1VN51A
Turns out the N is 600. So technically the motorcycle isn't a vs600 but a vn600 :P (or is my logic off ?)
According to suzuki (https://www.suzukicycles.org/_misc/iden ... #gsc.tab=0)
It's a V type engine (V) 600(N) four stroke twin (5) first model/generation (1) base model, no restrictions (A)

I've edited the main post to say 'intruder 600' rather then vs600 P:

Welcome! I guess you have one of the rare European only models. But is is a great looking bike and it is in the fastest color ever made, Red.

Here is a little background on the bike.

If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

I had never heard of a 600 either but I looked it up and found this.

Sweet bike you have there...
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.
