Re: Hey Mad Cow
I've gone 1,800 or so round trip to San Diego from Pocatello, ID, and another 1,100 to vegas and back. Oh, and 1,500 to Olympia, WA and back. I don't know how much I'll be able to keep that up if I keep with just a flyscreen and a modular helmet, haha. I never did have to suffer the stock seat, but the mustang seat makes me wish I had a bit more natural cushion.... I'm also 6'1" and the forwards weren't a very comfortable ride for me.
So, long distance is doable, for sure. Especially if it's your sole mode of transportation. I'm throwing on some leg and hand fairings as soon as I get the opportunity due to the winter riding. Coming back from Olympia to southeast Idaho late October was pretty chilly.
I'll let you know how the 8,600 mile trip goes.
What sorts of trips do you have planned?

Re: Hey Mad Cow
Went out of state lots of times on my 1400 in the 45,000 put on it.The wife hated it and the Nomad was the best two up I ever owned on long trips. She would do 150 miles between stops with no troubles.Put over 82,000 on it in less than four years. My little 650 Vstrom I like as good as any owned on solo trips.Did 10,300 in three and a half weeks on the Alaska trip and did a over 900 mile day on it coming back from the Colorado trip last Aug..It turns four years old this month and has 52,000 now. With a few more places to put your feet and being able to stand a few miles at a time you can ride when 69 like I am.
