Howdy and Wazzup!

Post by Radmax »

Hey! Sold off my old Thumper project (LS650). I'm looking hard at replacing it with an Intruder but I am having a hard time deciding between the 800 or 1400 (S50/S83)... figured I would look for some folks in the know that might have some opinions. I'll browse the site a bit before I start asking a lot of questions that have already been answered but any input is always welcome... My main concern is the difference in reliability and maintenance between the liquid and oil cooling. Anyways... Howdy!

Welcome aboard! The 1400 has an oil cooler on it and is a bullet proof engine if you do your part with oil changes. There are guys here with well over 100,000 miles on their 1400’s! I have a 1400 and my son has an 800. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. The 1400 makes quite a bit more torque and low end grunt. I have a 1400 for sale in the classified section here.

Just to follow up, found a 93 VS800 with about 11K, hasn't been fired up since 07 but otherwise in pretty good shape and mostly all stock still... I'm thinking about doing a thread on it's revival.

I'd love to see that thread on it's revival.
You can't go wrong with a VS800.

Which forum would be best do you think? Several seem like an option, maybe the Vs800/S50 one?
