I just got this. It is low millage and was parked for over 20 years.
It started but when I released the starter button it stopped. So my guess is what ever feeds it juice once it is running is somehow not connected.
Any ideas?
Anybody have the wiring diagram?

There's is no such thing as a 1974 1100 Kawasaki.
Did you mean 1984?

Your starter button will probably feed off the kill switch so I'd be guessing the connections have been swapped around there somewhere.

I was told it is a 74, 1100.hillsy wrote:There's is no such thing as a 1974 1100 Kawasaki.

However I did not find it when I tried to look it up. How do I find out without the paper work?
Will the vin number tell me?

If the year is correct, then it's a 900 and these are the VIN codes:
1973 Z1 – Z1F-00001 through Z1F-19999
1974 Z1-A – Z1F-20000 through Z1F-47499
1975 Z1-B – Z1F-47500 through Z1F-85700
1976 KZ900-A4 – Z1F-85701 through Z1F-13xxxx for bikes manufactured in Japan
1976 KZ900-A4 – Z1F-500001 through Z1F-51xxxx for bikes assembled in Lincoln
1977 KZ900-A5 – Nebraska
If it's an 1100 then it's an early 80s model.

Re: 1100cc Kowalski 1974
After reading the post on the japanese section I did some research and found out that if it is a 74 it is a 900, the 1000 didn't come out until 76 and was marketed as a 77 model. The first 1100 was in 81.
There should be a sticker on it saying what year it was made and the model year it was for, the stickers usually gave the model on them, like KZ900/1000/1100.
If it truly is a 74, the manual link is to the wrong manual.

I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.
