Yep - this thread was dragged into the shitter pretty much at page one. Nowhere left for it to go except political. Most active folder on this forum anyway.

Anyway - I went back to the start of the thread where some visionary was talking about removable / replaceable battery packs....

Should help to improve the life of the battery pack
One of the biggest failings is the cells in the battery pack

Not so much a viable solution for failing battery packs

I often get the same thing also after I posting factually accurate info that someone else doesn't 'like'. Guess that's because they get frustrated when they cannot refute it.

It's different with you. You post miles of cut n paste then when someone questions it you come back calling them names and re-pasting the same stuff for 20 pages. Most people then give up and leave.Designer wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 5:35 amFunny you should mention that.FallenAngel wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:23 pmI tried posting something positive and that was met with negativity and sarcasm

Ford Loses $1.3 Billion on Electric Vehicles in First Quarter of 2024, Delays Plans to Make More
OLIVIA RONDEAU 28 Apr 2024
https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2024/04/ ... make-more/
Ford Motor Company reported a whopping $132,000 loss on each electric vehicle (EV) sold during the first three months of 2024, amassing a $1.3 billion loss.
The auto manufacturer’s electric vehicle unit revealed Thursday that they experienced a 20 percent decrease in sales volume and were forced to slash prices due to low consumer demand, CNN reported.
The revenue for Ford’s EV car, the Model e, plunged by 84 percent to about $100 million, which the company blamed on EV price cuts across the auto industry.
“That resulted in the $1.3 billion loss before interest and taxes (EBIT), and the massive per-vehicle loss in the Model e unit,” the publication noted.
The recent figures are part of a trend of loss for Ford, with their Model e reporting a full-year EBIT loss of $4.7 billion on the sale of 116,000 units. This is an average loss of $40,525 per vehicle — and even that is just a third of the per-vehicle loss seen in the first three months of 2024.
Now, company officials are estimating that their EV division will lose a grand total of $5 billion this year, up from $4.7 billion last year.
“Americans don’t want EVs at levels Biden’s climate hysteria require,” author and businessman Andy Puzder wrote on X. “Ford’s EV Q1 losses soared to $1.3 billion — a ridiculous $132,000 per EV sold. All Ford’s profits came from combustion engine vehicle sales. Collectivist policies destroy prosperity.”

Energy and environmental science expert Steve Milloy called Ford’s loss a “massive EV disaster.”
Ford announced earlier this month that the company will delay producing two new electric models, opting for hybrid vehicles instead.
“Many companies rushed in too fast with E.V.s that were too expensive and there was not as much of a market for them as they thought,” Sam Abuelsamid, transportation and mobility analyst at research firm Guidehouse Insights, told the New York Times. “That’s made it a lot tougher to sell those vehicles.”

A social media influencer revealed this painful reality about electric vehicle ownership

Making the switch to an electric vehicle is supposed to be a breeze according to proponents.
But going electric is filled with nothing but headaches.
And a social media influencer revealed this painful reality about electric vehicle ownership.
TikTok personality became a star talking to drivers
TikTok star Daniel MacDonald picked up more than 14 million followers on the Chinese-controlled social media app with a simple gimmick.
He would go up to the drivers of high-end luxury cars and ask them what they did for a living.
MacDonald has interviewed celebrities like President Joe Biden while driving an electric vehicle, Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary, actor Mark Wahlberg, and Ford CEO Jim Farley.
A car aficionado, he told Fox News Digital that he owns a used 2019 Tesla for driving around Los Angeles, California.
And even in electric vehicle-friendly California, he’s had problems with it.
“There’s still some issues with the [mileage] range,” MacDonald explained. “I think that’s probably the primary issue that a lot of people have. I feel like Americans in particular, we like to go on trips, we like to travel far.”
Americans want a vehicle that will let them take a road trip.
“America needs a car that can allow them to go to Yosemite if they want to go. And essentially, the root of the problem is the charging networks,” MacDonald added. “And Tesla is far ahead of everyone else.”
Even Teslas have challenges that come with ownership
The TikTok star said that he originally bought a Tesla because it was a “status symbol” with its high price tag and cutting-edge technology.
But he’s running into problems like charging, jump-starting, and towing the popular electric vehicle brand.
“If you don’t have an at-home charger, or your apartment doesn’t have one, then you have to every couple of days literally physically get in your car, drive to a station, and then wait for it to charge,” MacDonald said. “I liked it a lot more when I had accessible charging. Now it’s kind of a pain.”
He added that he lucked out by having a supercharger about half a mile from where he lives but said not everyone had that luxury.
MacDonald explained that he dealt with a nightmare scenario when had to jump-start his Tesla after he left it sitting.
“I often travel for various shoots and whatnot, and sometimes I’ll be gone for several weeks at a time, and sometimes my Tesla will just sit there and lose battery while I’m gone . . . So that happened one time when I was in my garage, I’m next to my charger, this was when I used to live in my old building that had a charger . . . but when it dies, it won’t even allow you to charge it,” MacDonald explained.
He said he called Tesla but the automaker told him he was out of luck.
“I don’t know why they were kind of hiding this information, but I look up online through various sources a way to potentially jump-start the Tesla, and I jump it, and then it actually does turn on after I leave it going for a little bit,” MacDonald continued. “But then I had to go bring it in for service because something messed up with the battery. So it’s either you have to tow it, or you have to bring it in for service.”
Because of the car’s immense weight from the electric battery, it cost him nearly $1,000 to have it towed.
The reality of owning an electric vehicle isn’t anything like supporters would have people believe.

Somehow gas stations and real cars all have the same thing for fueling.
If the government is going to mandate these POS cars they also need to make sure there is no such thing as different plug ins or these stupid slow chargers.

Re: DIFFERENT VIEWS ON ELECTRIC CARS
Not sure how they came up with these numbers but I can damn well tell you that if it cost me $3,123 per 1,000 miles I would not be able to drive a car.
https://conservativeundergroundnews.com ... m_content=
...Electric vehicles cost more to drive than their gasoline-powered counterparts
iSeeCars conducted a study to determine the cost of driving various vehicle types for just 1,000 miles.
The study put electric vehicles, hybrids, plug-hybrids, and gas cars to the test.
EVs had the highest operating cost at $5,108 over 1,000 miles, followed by plug-in hybrids at $4,351.
Gasoline-powered vehicles were third at $3,123, and hybrids were slightly cheaper to operate at $3,056 per 1,000 miles.
Democrats want the public to believe that they’ll save money making the switch, but that isn’t true.
If EVs were the fix-all Democrats claim, they wouldn’t have to implement mandates to force working-class Americans to buy them.
Another study from the Anderson Economic Group found that the cost of electricity to charge an EV was more than filling up with gasoline.
“With electricity prices trending up and gas prices going down, most traditional gas-powered vehicles cost less to drive than their EV counterparts,” the Anderson Economic Group wrote.
In the entry-level segment, a Honda Civic requires about $9.78 worth of gas to drive 100 miles.
A comparable electric vehicle would require $12.55 worth of electricity if it were charged at home per 100 miles and $15.97 at a public charging station.
The study found that gasoline-powered cars beat EVs in every segment except high-end luxury vehicles.
Needless to say, Democrats are attempting to scam the American people with their electric vehicle lies.

Re: DIFFERENT VIEWS ON ELECTRIC CARS
Some more news on direct Lithium extraction in the US - hopefully this might shut the muppets up with their geriatric "EV's are useless" rants...unlikely though...
https://www.environmentenergyleader.com ... ion-plant/International Battery Metals and US Magnesium Launch Modular Lithium Extraction Plant
International Battery Metals Ltd. has partnered with US Magnesium LLC to deploy its patented modular direct lithium extraction (DLE) plant at a brine resource near Salt Lake City, Utah. The mobile, co-located facility will process lithium-containing waste-magnesium salts to produce lithium chloride. This chloride will be converted into high-purity lithium carbonate, essential for energy storage and electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
Modular, Transportable Design
In recent weeks, International Battery Metals (IBAT) has completed most of the equipment setup at the US Magnesium site, including pipe and utility tie-ins and other installation activities. The company has initiated critical equipment testing and projects full commissioning and startup within the next three months, with commercial lithium production to follow shortly after that.
IBAT’s modular DLE plant was initially fabricated in Lake Charles, Louisiana, before being transported to Utah. The modular design enables the compact facility to be relocated as needed, ensuring operational efficiency and scalability.
Verified Technology, Designed for Sustainability
Independent organizations like SLR International Corporation and Greg Mehos & Associates LLC have validated the technology behind IBAT’s patented plant. Their assessments affirm the technology’s ability to efficiently extract lithium from various brine sources, such as oilfield brines in Arkansas’s Smackover Formation and subterranean brine resources across North America, Chile, Argentina, and Germany.
The plant has been independently verified to extract more than 97% of available lithium from brine while maximizing lithium uptake and minimizing impurities. The advanced water recovery rate ensures minimal impact on sensitive water resources. Furthermore, the brine is returned to its original subsurface aquifer, creating a closed-loop recycling system. By limiting chemical usage, the extraction process minimizes environmental impact and accelerates lithium chloride production.
With a footprint of just three acres, the modular DLE plant is designed to initially produce up to 5,000 metric tons per year, scalable according to demand. Its design optimizes construction and operational costs, making it a cost-effective alternative to traditional extraction methods.
