I think I addressed this about two months back.
Folk's come to these forums to chat/entertainment. When it turns nasty folk's reconsider whether a forum is worth visiting.

Used constructively, controversy can be an effective way to attract Attention: people start talking, engaging, and paying attention to your position, which is a very good thing.

SJ, controversy can be very positive, but you must have missed the key statement, "nasty."
Opposing world view can be a great discussion until opposing parties become nasty. Nobody wants to participate in that, and if they do other's leave.

Quite correct.
Aren't we all better off here on this Board since needlessly nasty personal attacks from a Board Member have dropped off because they now post more non-controversial topic matter ?
