I see that guy around here a lot lately. It's nice to see that even a bot comes along once in a while to check out the site and see how we're doing. I feel relieved, I'm not alone.

How does a bot reply to a confirmation email that it would have had trouble getting initially? Them yahoo bots are religious, and confrontational, and easily offended...they be liberalbots.

I don't think they have much trouble finding us, it is a public site. Once they do, they look for links on the site's pages. If they see one that equates to "Register" or "Signup", they'll trigger the link and go through that part easily enough. If they get instant activation, then they'll start all kind of crazy stuff going on. It was a real problem for me when I was running my own server hosting my web site. I had a Guestbook that was constantly getting filled with useless crap everyday. I didn't have any tools to help me filter them out and it didn't take long before I was pulling out my hair. I ended up coming up with a way to deal with them though. I called it autoban and it was a script I wrote that would automatically ban any Safari browser from accessing the site. I noticed that 99% of the trouble came from that browser. That was then.

This is why we have the anitspambot countermeasures in place and it's that wonderful puzzle thing you have to solve. Some bots, are apparently smart enough to figure them out, or there's a flag thrown that tells someone, "Hey I found a place, here's the thing that needs solving" and some really lonely guy figures it out and then turns the bot lose again to go reek havoc. At least, that's my best guess anyway.

We are pretty secure here. The few that do manage to sneak in get deleted ASAP.

Just noticed the google bot was here, you may as well make it an administrator, since it doesn't sleep anyway. FYI, google is the closest we have ever had to "Big Brother" as described by Orwell.

Go over there when you see Tyrant online and start a thread about how you read a thread where Designer mentions a WIDE spark plug gap is better than the stock setting when running Iridium plugs. That'll hit a nerve with Ty I got in on that one when either Ty or Designer brought it over to the tech side. It got REAL heated and lasted quite a while. It's the reason Ty changed his location from, 'Last Chance' to whatever it is now. I was so pissed at him I even made up a couple funny cartoons about him. It was grand indeed! Of course, ever since then, there's been no respect from either of us towards eachother, but I did actually try to bury the hatchet with him. Jolsen, BTT and MC prolly remember that whole thing, the rest of you probably signed up to IA after it all blew over.
