Freakin NICE 98 VS800!!!

Post by DMIntruder »

Holy crap!!! If I had the coin and room I'd jump ALL over this bike! Love the color, condition looks mighty fine and with the number of pictures, the owner isn't trying to hide anything.

I wonder if he would trade my 97 VS1400 straight up for that bike......

Been trying to trade my 700 for a larger bike for some time now. :ahha: Of course you're so far away.

Dogg lots of deals on 1400s up here. Only 7 hours away. My wife can drop dinner on the floor then we can go out to eat at a nice family owned diner.

I agree. If that guy was near me I'd already be the new owner.

Wire me the money and you can be.
I'd have to fly down and see it first...then ride it home...if he was near me...I'd already have gone to look at that beauty and own it.

Don't mind driving to get one, been looking everywhere within about 10 hrs. It's convincing my wife to drive the car back. :lmao: Either that or hop a bus. Every one I find is either nicer in the pictures or they want to much and won't negotiate. I'd love to just trade my 700 and all my extra stuff for at least a 1400 year not important. Bike shopping is a PITA.

I will say this...I look at the Motorcycle classifieds daily on CL. (It's always interesting!)
I think this add is bullshit!
I'll tell you why...as I am very used to the Craigslist adds, particularly the cycle ones, if you look at the background in this add all of the pictures have a store-side wall behind them.
There are a few of those "Buy-Here/Pay-Here" shops in Tampa/St. Petersburg area. THEY ARE SHAMS!! The bikes have a nice "shine" to them but the prices are way higher than worth (I say that in general) and the most of the prices are jacked up. And don't EVER finance one from these places...holy shit, the interest rates with awesome credit are 21% and higher!!!
I remember going to one in St. Pete and there was another customer walking around that told me not to buy one of the bikes on the lot. When I asked him why he told me that it used to be his bike and he beat the shit out of it before trading it in.
Also, CL posts a few adds discussing the mechanics in these stores and their "lack of knowledge" to say loosely!
This particular add I cannot be 100% sure but a buck says ten, it's one of those BH-PH stores.
There will be a time where you will no longer be able to use, "But...I didn't know!", as an excuse. And if you're exiled from society, well, you were warned.

I considered calling yesterday on the bike, but since I don't have the money it would just be a big tease. I find it a bit hard to believe that a dealer would list this bike at $1800 or best offer though. Possible though. Someone call him and see if you can tell if it is a dealer by the way he answers questions. ASk him some stuff only an owner would know or be able to answer.

I just talked to Tony. Not a dealer. he bought the bike about 1 month ago as his personal ride, but his son in NY is having financial difficuties and he was going to sell it to help his son out. That is the story I got. However I did offer him a straight trade for my 97 1400 and he did not say no. He asked for pictures and said he would need to sell it also, but he might consider the trade. Sending pictures now....

Maybe I am just crazy even offering this.

Why would one want to down size to the "womans intruder"?

IMO you are, but I am thinking of all the work you did on it.
The work on the 97 was half the fun and now it is done. Before I bought that bike I was looking for another 800 to round out the Intruder family. I loved the 2001 VS800 I had. It was a fun bike. Having one of each displacement makes more sense than 2 of the same. This particular bike looks clean enough, low enough milage, and the color I would want also.

Pretty far from a deal at this point however. If he wants to see my bike I'll ride up with title in hand and see what happens. I will go over that bike with a fine toothed comb to make sure it is in better or comparable condition to mine.

KBB values are the same for both bikes too.
