Washing the bike
To be honest I don't remember ever washing the bike, but I have spent plenty of time cleaning it up. I guess you could say spraying it down with a garden hose is washing it. But that only happens about once a year when BBB rolls around in Ar.

Re: Washing the bike
Mine usually gets a bath once a year. Typically when I pull it out from winter storage. It didn't get one this year though. I haven't had any problems blasting it with a hose and giving it a good soaking, but I don't TRY to get the water in places where it shouldn't be either. Once you get started cleaning it up, you keep finding places to polish or wipe down. Starting off on an hour job can turn into an all day project. LOL

Re: Washing the bike
I wash if its very dirty... after my last ride I got caught in the rain and there is a TON of water spots and crap.
So I will give her a bath. I never go nuts with the hose and water, gentle hosing.
If its really grungy.. I use wheel cleaner to get all of the junk off the engine and such.
Otherwise I use the Mothers or Armor all spray and shine, or Pledge.
Yes Pledge or any other furniture polish. Its a quick shine and is a nice wax! My father used it on his bike for years.

Re: Washing the bike
This is exactly what I do to clean mine. I call it a 'whore bath'. When I used to wash with a hose I would inevitably get water where it really shouldn't be. Although I do mine at least every month or so. I take pride in my rides and want them looking as good as they can.98VS1400 wrote: I just clean the bike the best I can with a rag and some spray cleaner. Then I will wax the painted area and polish the chrome.

Mild detergent in a spray bottle (or windex) and a soft cloth. Wax every few months. I like to keep it as clean as possible, not for anyone else but for me. The damn love bugs are a real PIA too. I clean it more often when they invade the area.

Re: Washing the bike
The way I see it is "it is a bike it is suppose to be outside in the elements." So it is going to get wet. Who would make a bike you would ruin by washing it? This guy doesn't seem to have a problem when his bike gets wet.

Why does this thread even exist? You guys actually wash your bike?
Not me, rather be riding. Good wash an wax once a year after I get her out.

Re: Washing the bike
I tried to polish the chrome and now I can't get the polish off my rubber.
PS I love my cordless drill. It even makes great milkshakes. Just ignore the fact that 5 min ago I was using it to grind rust off the tractor. lol

Maybe I'll try that in the spring. 41° outside hoping for a few more rides before I put the ice track studed tires back on.

Hey Keith, I didn't add the caption. It was already on the pic. I just did a c&p job with the pic. But it does look like something you might try.98VS1400 wrote: Cute picture caption!
