I do remember that! Saw it on the news with Brian Williams reporting live from an observation spaceship in a neighboring galaxy...

Hmm...Must be an old dead word or something. I've never heard that one used. :donno:

Actually, a word from the early 60's that is still understood by literary people, especially those into scifi. And ya could look it up! [emoji106]
“Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury…
Signifying nothing”

Signifying monkey, stay up in your tree. Always lying and signifying, but you better not monkey with me.

Grok was coined as a phase in the book Stranger in a Strange Land, by Robert A. Heinlein. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grok [emoji106]

That magnetar was 50000 light years away, so the relevant event happened oh, 50000 years ago, and took this long to see the effects here. The article wonder whether any magnetars are closer, and I'd say if they are, their effects have already been felt once before, unless they have not sent a burst this way, in which case it will be a moot point....we won't be here for the magnificent aurora display when it finally comes. I reckon that event was a once in a lifetime thing.....and I can't say I remember it all that well.
