It's not a leak after all

Post by BlacktopTravelr »

Every time it rained I would notice water dripping from the vent in my trailer and I thought I had a leak. :OhNo; Well I just opened the vent and noticed some water on the inside of the vent cover  and it dawned on me what is causing the moisture. It is the same thing that causes water to form and freeze on the door when it gets cold. It is also the same thing that causes the underside of my pillows to get wet at night time. Have you guessed what it is???

It happens to every teardrop trailer and I had forgotten all about it... it is condensation from breathing. Yep, every trailer goes through this if you stay in it long enough. The moisture from you breath will condense on the walls of the trailer if you don't leave a vent open for the moisture to get out of your trailer at night. I haven't been leaving a vent open because I forgot about needing to leave an opening. :bang: Stupid me. :lolfall: :Umm: I guess I deserve that moniker. :bonk: :hat:

Gas burning appliances cause the same issue, but you don't use propane heat, right?

Right, I use electric heat and that is why I never thought about the condensation. I figured it would be too dry, but the moisture on the glass door should have alerted me that I was mistaken. :OhNo; :bang: It is suppose to in the 70's Friday and Sat. So I am going to air out the trailer to dry it out.  :hat:

Where do you suggest I park it? :Umm: ;IDunno:  :bang: :hat: :OhNo; Can I park it at your house and run an extension cord into the house for electricity? :OhNo; And I'll need a place to take a shower at least every other day in Fl. :bang:

I have to go to Fl to get a pic taken of me at that most southern end of the US spot I keep seeing. It will probably have to wait until I have the trike as I ain't pulling the trailer (teardrop) that far with the 800. :bang: I just noticed that the end of the teardrop that has the most moisture is also the end where the extension cord is at. I may become a Christmas light if I'm not careful. :OhNo; :Umm: :hat:

I wish I had the time to build the trailer in my head. Tiny house meets cargo containers

I usually so to the http://www.tnttt.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; website since they have all kinds of threads on any kind of teardrop you can think of. It is where I found out about using the insulation board and drop cloth for the teardrop I want to make. It is light weight but strong and easy to build. At least they say it is. :lolfall:

Do they have any tricks to defeat condensation in cargo containers?
