Don't get to sad. Notice I said stopped not quit. I hope telling of Good Rides and stuff here on The Board doesn't make for sorrow on your part. ;IDunno:

Sorry to hear this. What kind of pain are you referring to? Mental? Physical? If you can be more specific, perhaps we can come up with some advice on coping with it while still enjoying "the ride."wally w wrote:I stopped riding because the rewards of riding stopped overcoming the pain of riding.

The chances of reversing the aging process are nil. When your whole body is a ball of pain, you start feeling dizzy for no reason and your missing the line you normally take with ease it's time to say "fuck this".lonerider wrote:Sorry to hear this. [emoji2] Hey Paul. I'm using imgur now, but there's plenty of others just as easy as Photobucket was. Yeah, I got yer email but there's no pics attached. Just email 'em directly to thecuban@bellaliant.net and I'll put 'em up for ya. (no submarines!)MattSunn wrote: Sent you an email.....I think

Re: The thrill is gone
ok, i did not read all the posts, and my situation doesn't quite fit, but...
i've been bikeless now for about three weeks. i sold my v-strom 650, deciding to buy a lighter-weight scoot. the strom, along with the givi topbox, weighed in at 490+- wet, and, along with the higher seat, was becoming cumbersome to git on'n'off, and push around the garage.
i narrowed down choices to the yamaha FZ-07 (+-395) and honda CB500F (+-415). i fell for the yamaha just cuz MC.com awarded it first in its category for three years. i had ridden a 2015 FZ before i bought the strom. it was ok but i wasn't used to its flickability. But i did look around and found new 2017s (with abs) for $5899.
i hemmed and hawed until my old boss sent me a cragslisting for a 2015 honda CB500F ($3450) - the model with the more upright ergos. i became interested in that particular bike, and was about to arrange to obtain cash and go check it out when mrs sinsd voiced her opinion - not about the honda, but whether i should continue to ride.
i'm experiencing minor health issues: some dizziness, particularly when i move to a standing position. and lately i have experienced shortness of breath. both very disconcerting. yeah, you're thinking to yourself, "not so minor." LOL.
so i called off the meeting with the honda seller. sigh. i've been pestering my doctor about a couple of other things; now these new situations.
if i can somehow overcome or at least reduce these new symptoms, i plan to resume the hunt. not scooting spreads out the day, so i end up not accomplishing much, except i do more housework...doh.

Steve sure hope you get lots better. You look so healthy. My wife yells at me every time on the barn or house roof"Get off and call some one !You are too old to be doing that!" Last year have a rope around my belt to make her feel better. Just keep posting the old you meet the nicest people on a Honda pics. Lots of us like them.I know me and Frank do any way [emoji2] so that should be enough.

Well, have you tried a pain management routine guided by a competent neurologist? My wife suffers from degenerative disk disease. The discs in her spine have completely disintegrated leaving her with no cushion between the vertebrae resulting in excruciating pain. She was almost 100% bedridden until she eventually found a pain specialist physician who has her on a combination of physical therapy and pain meds. She is now fairly mobile and leads a pretty normal life. The pain is still there but on a lower level, and she is coping with it very nicely.wally w wrote:The chances of reversing the aging process are nil. I've had physical therapy a hip replacement and the best pain meds you can legally get. I rode for 60 years and I'm fine with not riding. It's a different ride these days and I'm not equipped to deal with it.lonerider wrote:Well, have you tried a pain management routine guided by a competent neurologist?
