So what are some examples of lessons taught to masons and why do the lessons take so long to learn?

Is there a cliff notes or masons for dummies book? You know like strictly the lessons without the fluff? I have always been blunt and to the point in order to try not to waste time. Having this trait would I get easily frustrated with the formalities of being a mason?
