Last time I had to do any wrenching was 2010 on my Centennial Road King. Changed the battery. In the middle of Idaho, late in the day, hundreds of miles from home, used cell phone to call HD dealer 40 miles distance about to close but stayed open til we arrived in our support Chevy dually pick up to buy new battery, the pack waited patiently and two hours later were on our way to the Canadian border. Laughter and commaraderie never stopped. [emoji106] That battery had 50K and I should have swapped it for new at home, but just a brief roadside event and easy compared to the repairs that many of us experienced as a pack in the 60’s and 70’s.

This thread reminded me of the day my trailer hitch broke while I was on my way home from the Maggie Valley Rally in 2012. It was on a Sunday and everything was closed. I ended up disconnecting the trailer and riding into town where I found a Fleet Farm type store open. Bought some parts made to hold a leaf spring in place and patched it up pretty good. I decided to sell the trailer after that trip.
