Speaking of tools what do you think of the Intruder tool kit? Is it worth picking up?

Not only no but HELL no. Assemble your own tool kit for the bike out of quality tools or buy some cheapo stuff from harbor Freight. But the Suzuki tool kit is WAY overpriced.

Good luck. Normal spark plug socket s won't fit. The tool kit priceless. JIS screws strip super easy with American Phillips. JIS set is a must.

Yep, so true. I have only one socket that will fit the plugs, so I need to find another. The JIS screwdrivers are a little harder to find, at least at HF.
First replace all of the JIS screws that you are going to access frequently with cap head. Secondly the socket for the plug is just a thin wall deep well 18mm socket available at Sears, maybe Lowes, possibly HF.

Harbor Freight torque wrenches are a good buy when they are on sale. Can't really go wrong if you just them occasionally. The 1/4" drive version measures in inch lbs. Great for clutch springs and cover bolts. The factory tool kit? My tool kit cover has a flat blade screw to secure the cover in place. WTH? So I keep a flat blade screw driver in my fork bag to remove the cover that contains my toolkit. Also a good idea to keep an LED flash light, shop rags (parts are hot), and whatnot in the fork bag.

Hmm, maybe we should start a thread in the tech section or add links to the Start Here forum where we can group good tools and such that are must haves for working on these bikes.

98, you up for that?

I picked this up at Harbor Freight last week to add new connectors to my battery cables and install a new ground.

It won't get used too much but if anyone in the local area needs to borrow it we can arrange something.

I also have a set of these that make fast work of tightening the battery terminal bolts.

10mm with the hinge works great.
