The Father's Wanted To Take A Ride...

Post by PCC »

Father's Day Ride today lead us to some rural roads and a stop at an old church that is a nice stop to rest. This church has been around since 1901.

Piano sounds good and Harry was about to lay some preaching on us. :lmao:

Then we took a run over to Table Rock Dam to watch all the water flow but first noticed all the flooding at Forsyth, MO...

With a few stops for cool drinks and ice cream the day was a success.

Dang Diana, does the church really lean like that or is that an optical illusion? I mean the tree to the left of it looks straight, as do the bikes, like they are resting on flat ground as normal, but the church looks as though it's really leaning, like it was built cockeyed or something.

Well now that you mention it... it looks like it leaning in the pics but didn't notice it until now. :uhh: Inside it did not seem to lean but here is another angle of pic taken by someone else...

Well, if that foundation ain't cockeyed, I don't know what is.

And if you look back at your, "inside" pic it shows the same thing as well.
Could it be a building that was moved to this location from another place?

No I think it has always been there.

If you look at the back you can see it is only the picture that is crooked. Either that or all the builds are leaning. :lolfall:

Yeah, that is what I thought as well, an optical illusion. The trees are not a very good guage of level as John can tell you. Trees in Oklahoma and Texas are far from vertical due to the predominate and constant winds. [emoji2]

Yeah I thought that as well too but if you look at that pic, and tilted the cameras such that the Church is standing up straight, do you think that bike on the right side of the pic would still be standing up with only it's kick stand down?

Hard to tell, pics can be deceiving at times. When I tip the laptop to make the walls look plumb the bike still has a slight left lean but yeah, it looks close to being unstable. Wonder why he didn't turn the handlebars to the left. If PCC says it wasn't tilted guess I'll take her first hand account as gospel. [emoji106] In any case I enjoyed the pics and the backstory of the church.

Well in reality, I think it really is a straight building and the tree and bike are deceiving us. It is a very good optical illusion though, but I find it kind of weird that the inside pic is also slanted in the same direction and by about as much. What seems odd about it is that people usually will hold the camera level to the item they are taking pics of.

Very strange.

Also, you'd know for sure if you were going up hill when entering the church, after all, at that angle how could you not notice that you weren't?

Maybe it's not the Church that is crooked but it's you that is either standing crooked or a nickel fell into the heel inside your shoe...It happens to me all the time cept in my case a penny will do it. [emoji2]
