Re: THE ROAD
Wow! Very nice pics Diana. You always have the best around and the most plentiful assortment. What was happening in the field where those dudes were? I tried zooming in but couldn't really tell what was going on there.
Anyway, thanks for sharing, I love your pics!

Hey Yo, those dudes were at the Cadillac ranch looking at buried caddies.
We have one of those low water bridges not far from me. That could even be it.

Re: THE ROAD
Yes those dudes were at Cadillac Ranch just outside of Amarillo, TX.
The low water crossing is not very far outside of Nixa, MO. I found it one day when I took a wrong turn and just kept going until I saw the water.

Re: THE ROAD
I know around here the concrete goes all the way across the creek so you don't have to worry about the creek bed being washed out. It is passable if the water isn't too deep. But it doesn't take much to lift up a car even as heavy as it is. So as long as the water isn't running fast I drive across it knowing there is a road under the water.

Re: THE ROAD
There was concrete but if you look closely the water was running pretty fast and there can be slick mossy stuff on the surface so I was taking no chances with the trike. I have witnessed a school bus slide off a slab like that with no more water than that too.BlacktopTravelr wrote:I know around here the concrete goes all the way across the creek so you don't have to worry about the creek bed being washed out. Re: THE ROAD
That is what I meant by the water not being too deep or running fast. It only takes a few inches of water to make a car float off. I've seen those big trucks with oversize tires float across creeks. It is scary to think we drive thru flood water that deep.
Nice pics CC. Thanks for posting them.

Wow, there's a place I've been to before Seattle and to that Public Market as well.
What a flashback that was!

Re: THE ROAD
Let me try to guess some of the places pictured in the first set of pics that I "think" I recognize... I seen similar settings on my travels, they might not be correct but the scenery is the same..
The mutiple buttes.. in Big Bend national Park?????
Cadillac ranch near Amarillo of course
the swiggly 20 mph in Arkansas , maybe hiway 23
The 180 degree climbing roadway looks like Mount Nebo in Arkansas????
The Million Dollar Hiway with the left turn sign????
That long stretch of hiway could be a number of places...but I'm gonna guess I-10 somewher between Fort Stockton, Texas and El paso..?????
How close am I Diana?

Re: THE ROAD
That's the Upper Ferry, looks a lot like the Whitehaven Ferry which is kinda close to your hunting grounds. Upper Ferry is just around the corner from my house, so I use it a lot.
