Intruders-Alert

Hello! This is a thread I'm starting to entice our regular Michigan former "IAers" to come here to set up this years ride.

We have been meeting the 1st full weekend in August since 2004. I joined the group in '06 and have been riding ever since.

I invited those that are on Facebook to join and I hope to see them chime in here!

Could you give more specifics? Such as location, actual dates / times....hotels etc etc?

Well, I wish I could! I can only tell you right now that it will be August 6th and 7th 2016.

During last years ride we had 2 plans being discussed, one putting us in the Alpena area and the other in the Traverse City area. With the Downfall of the original IA, some of our discussions left with it. So that's why I started this thread and contacted our key riders via Facebook and text to get them to come here so we can get it going and put some plans in stone.

When the plans are finalized, I'll update the 1st post to contain the info.

My trips are suppose to start in August ..hope to make it as I will be riding Lake Superior this summer and staying in Copper Harbor a few nights.

I will be pulling a camper, so would like to know the location so I can reserve a spot ..or if at a Hotel so I know I can park the camper on their parking lot .

Hey Elsie! Right now it looks like Alpena MI, probably the Best Western. But unfortunately with the death of the original IA, we are WAY behind in planning.
So right now that's the best I got.

Ii like Best Western...I get discounts or upgrades with my HOG best Western card

I Called Rich & Nancy tonight and they are ready to help out with the planning and show us some of the awesomeness of their area!

I went to Trivago.com and found the Best Western in Alpena offering a rate of $80 a night for 8/5 and 8/6. Rich didn't think it had a pool, but the pictures of it show one.

It looks like currently there would be Karen and I, Rich and Nancy, Dave and Heather, Doug and Kathy, Ron and Andrea, Norm and Louann (kind of assuming there) and Elsie Rider. That's 13 people and 7 bikes!

I HOPE Bill and Tami can re-join the group and Maybe Bruce and Shawn could make it to have 17 people and 9 bikes.

Ron....... You think Mike would be interested in this ride?

I got my reservation. I did not call as I had a ton of points on my HOG/Best Western rewards card....so I should only pay Taxes ...2400 points for staying 8-5 through 8-7

Great, but I think you mis-read the first post, Rich got us a better deal at Days Inn. Not the Best Western. He did it by visiting the Hotel personally.

The 2 hotels are about a block apart on opposite sides of the street.

Map shows the Days Inn on the North side of the street right next to Home Depot and the Best Western on the other side of Home Depot, but on the South side of the street.

I will stay at the Best western for basically free ,,, it is the beginning of a month long trip ..so free is good

Well I finally figured out where everyone went
We are going to ride up this way this year. Nancy and I were thinking a Black Lake ride Saturday followed on Sunday ride along the Au Sable River
road. With plenty of time for a visit elsewhere.
If anyone has something special they want to see give us a holler.
Nice to planning our get together, can't wait to see you all.

Just finished riding the second route with final destination just West of Oscoda.
We will depart Desi's for home unless we agree to something else on Saturday evening.
Only Saturday is pretty much set in stone. We can discuss Sunday on Saturday evening
whilst practicing total debuachery
