Hi all, how does intruder 1400 electricity handle additional driving lights?

Thank you for your suggestion, do you know of any brand or setup in the market?

At one time I had the cheap Walmart 55 watt lights on my 800 and it worked ok. I have heard of people running down their batteries using the 55 watt lights. So if you use them be sure and keep that in mind. I'm now looking for the LED lights (35 watt or smaller) to put on the bike as it can use all the help I can give it at night to light up the hi-way. stock vs1400 generates 320 watts at regular speeds

so, simply add up what you have on your bike
and
see how much you have left over for additional goodies

on a previous vs1400 I had twin 55w driving lights AND heated gear
could not run both at the same time
which, of course, is what switches are for

I run a volt meter on the bike and let the bike tell me when I am over loading it.

On my 1500 I am running 35 watt running lights and I actually get higher voltage when I turn on the lights. I run down the road at 14.4 volts lights off and 14.6 volts with the lights on. I think it has something to do with not having to shunt as much of the excess voltage away.

As you add things if you go below 14.2 volts it is time to think about not running something.

According to the info I gathered over the years & on my site; the VS1400 produces 300 watts of power

Switch out the stock headlight bulb with this & save a minimum 15 - 20 watts (or one like it)

If it's just extra lighting, while a bit pricey at 20 watts total, these look decent

You have to watch these; a member of a Valkyrie forum tried one, and blistered his headlamp bucket from heat. It took a few months for him to notice and report back.

Fan must of not being working for it to build up heat like that.

Found these on aliexpess Blue Angel Eye Cree 125w motor cycle work lights around $16-17

They clamp on to the flexi joint on the indicator stalk. Piggy back wires to high/low leads in headlight bucket. Halo when on low and 125w LED on high OH YEAH they are frickin bright Only issue sometimes on high they strobe, flick off an on again they go to solid. Small price to pay as Intruder lights aren't too crash hot. Come in blue, green and red i think. Very little load i think

The fan worked, there was just not a large enough opening for the hot air to escape, so the fan just kept circulating hotter and hotter air. If the bucket is metal, it will release some of the heat, but plastic ones, not so much. The Valkyrie has a much larger bucket than the Intruders, so the Intruder headlamp may overheat sooner.
