pump stays on

I have a 2003 intruder 805 and when I try to start the pump will send gas non stop and its flooding the carb. What tells the pump to stop? Is it presure?

Sounds like you have a stuck float.
Pressure will shut the pump off, but not if the float valve is stuck open.
Sometimes tapping the float bowl with a screwdriver handle will shut it...otherwise you may have a piece of debris on the valve seat, requiring disassembly.

Thanks it was the needle for the floater. No the problem that I have is that cylinder #1 will not fire, it has spark but gas is coming out from the header and I cant figure out why it will not work

Need more info:
#1 is the rear cylinder, is that the one that had a stuck float?
If so the float level may be set too high.
Did it run prior to this or did you just aquire this bike?
The carbs probably need syncing since you had it apart.

Yes I just acquired this bike and it had a bunch of issues that are good now but this one is last one that I have. I bought a sync tool, Ill let u know if it fixes it. Tks for the help.
