Another auction bike

So I was looking at the auctions again and saw this 650 Strom. It's a 2010 model. In the photos it looked pretty good and I ended up buying it at a decent price.
So it looked like it just fell off the side stand on the RHS. Some rash on the crash bar...
OK - a little tweaked...
Cracked mount on the front mudguard.....
Tyres are OLD (2016) and worn out...
It's got headlight protectors
Looks like it broke the brake lever in the fall...
Only 44K km on the clock
This bike is an insurance write-off. I'm actually stunned at that considering how little the bike is damaged. Other than the broken front mudguard mount the bodywork is mint. The bike also fired right up at the auction yard - battery was still charged and I rode it onto my trailer
Anyway - this should be a reasonably easy fix. There's a few hoops to go through getting it re-registered (and off the write-off register) but I've done this before so hopefully there's no major dramas.

Of course!
Don't want to jinx myself but I don't think there's a hell of a lot to do with this one - it's in pretty good condition.

I was a little disappointed when i noticed so little damage on the bike and that being said Even a short resto thread would be refreshing
Nice find

Right - really not much to do on this bike.
New brake lever
Fixed the guard mount (I left it unpainted so you can see it's been repaired)
And I got new tyres on my 1000, so the "old" ones went on this
I've decided to move this one on as it is now.
Reason?....well....at the same time I picked this one up...I picked up another 1000...
Same year and even same colour as mine. I might do another thread on that one soon.

A guy on the Triumph forum went up on a curb that scratched his frame and dented a pipe. He had full coverage so he called his insurance company, mainly for the pipe. They totaled the bike because of the frame damage. It literally just knocked the paint off and left a small scrape in the metal.

ANY frame damage over here is an instant STAT write-off - meaning it cannot be re-registered. I bought a Ninja 300 as a stat write-off and changed the frame over (
viewtopic.php?f=81&t=13507&p=202838&hilit=ninja#p202838).
This one is a repairable write-off due to essentially being knocked off the side stand by the looks of things. Probably backed into in a parking lot. No evidence of the bike actually being in motion at the time of impact.

So it sold pretty quick - again like the Hyosung I wasn't too greedy and the guy who bought it didn't haggle on the price. He bought it for his son who currently rides a 300 Ninja. They both came to have a look at it a few days back - and when the son sat on it his eyes lit up with a sudden revelation that there are bikes that are comfortable out there
Anyway - his dad came and picked it up with a trailer yesterday. I had a set of Bark Buster hand guards for the 650 that I got off my shop buddy (flood stock) which I threw in the top box for the lad to fit. Felt like the right thing to do as it's nice to see some of the next generation still getting excited about bikes.

But there's another problem now....the auctions keep delivering....
