No need to compromise when you know how to up the charging and get the benefit of smoother gear shifting both.
Bullshit. You're clueless here.
Not Bullshit....but such derogatory insult is your usual MO.

Upping the effective charging absolutely DOES remove the reason you state that you raised your idle speed.

And,...NOT grinding the gears absolutely IS better than doing so.

Might be wise to get yourself some Mechanical Experience before posting such a LACK thereof.

Details please.

Love for you to share your solutions for the LCs marginal charging issues that have been plaguing owners for decades.

Permanent magnet stators need RPM to work.

Suzuki gave us the clue when they said the voltage needs to be checked at 5k RPM. Which is fine on an I-4 but close to redline on an LC.

Happy to hear your workaround for this....

Also,...it's good that you are now willing to learn from Seasoned Mechanical Experience.

For my two 1400's;
First,...I reduced the Electrical Drain. :space: I installed HID headlight and all LED Running and Turn Signal Lamps.

Second,...I installed a Larger Stator.

If anyone disagrees with a statement they should give a reason and an alternate solution. Just saying a person is clueless only screws up another thread and shows that the person making the clueless statement is an ass.

As for charging, the 1400 has plenty of charging for stock use as long as it is not shut down and restarted every mile. Mine charges at almost 14 vdc at idle, with the headlight on and turn signal on, with idle set at 1000. Maybe the 1500 is different, but I doubt it.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Yes it is. There was a modification called MOD3 specifically aimed at curing the charging woes on the LC. It helped but did not always work completely. The LC charging system was marginal at best. Even with all the lights turned off.

I have talked to a lot of 1500 owners and not one of them has complained about the charging system. Has anyone else heard of this issue?

I have no idea who you talked to - this is a pretty COMMON issue.

I performed this "mod" on my 1400's.

But the best thing was the larger stator.

So you'd recognise this as a weak point.

I "recognize" that the Larger Stator I installed is THE BEST fix for the need for more charging on both the 1400's and 1500's

It's not just the stator on the 1500. It's the wiring set-up as well as the inherent low charging at low rpm which is endemic with the permanent magnet stator system.

I mean - it's great you "fixed" your 1400, but it's not a 1500. The charging problems with the 1500 are pretty much specific to that bike.

The 1500 wiring "fix" is a working idea.....

However, installing a Higher Output Stator does what that does,...and more.

No idea what that is supposed to mean.

Like I said - great that you fixed your 1400 but it's not a 1500.

the Bigger Stator also fixes the 1500 charging issue...or,...didn't you bother to read that? :Umm:

You know the stators are different, right??

Out of curiosity - what RR do you have?
