Clutch+spring

Post by Acool610 »

Hello I am about to change my clutch vs 1400 1994, and have bought EBC CK3382 plates, and new reinforced springs, but but, there are only 9 plates in my clutch, but the set I bought has 10 plates? How does it fit together? and as for the springs, there are 8 springs, 4 short 4 long, can I replace the 4 short ones with long ones, so that all 8 are long or do they have to be short and long respectively? the new springs are reinforced.
the plates are placed in oil, they lie there for a week.
Hope some can help me out , I'm confused 🧐

look here:
https://www.partsoutlaw.com/oemparts/a/ ... 1ac/clutch

The seat and wave washer go on first.
There are 10 friction plates, with steel plates between them.
The first plate to go on is thicker than the other 9, part# 21442-37401.
The remaining plates are part# 21441-07A02, superceded by part# 21441-12D01.
Don't mix them up.
The springs are different and must be placed in the proper location.
Replace short with short, long with long.
DO NOT over torque them!
8 ft.lbs. = 96 in.lbs.

Thank’s Navigator.
now I can see the 10 plate all the way in the back, I didn't see it at the start, so now it makes sense with 10 plates in total, thank you very much 👍

If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

I am willing to bet that the plates will measure well within specs. The problem with the clutch on the 1400 is the springs, not the plates.

When I changed the engine on my 99 I measured the plates and they were barely under new and well above minimum with over 180,000 miles on it. Designer's springs were installed at 35,000 miles after 2 changes of the stock springs.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.
