Fred, which country would that be? Although I, personally, have nothing to do with religion, you seem to be upset with the possibility of it existing. Religion is buildings and dogma and doctrine, sprinkled with enough politics to gag a maggot. A good rule to follow if you don't want something shoved down your throat is to keep your mouth shut.
Christ is the Prince of Peace. Atheists have been recorded as dying screaming for someone to "Get my feet out of the fire." Where is the calm and tranquility in that? Which way is mecca, anyway? Mahomet was a pedophile. Welcome to the site.

Where do you go when you die? its usually little girls with wringlets in thier hair that asks this but Ille tell yer. Try squashing a cockroach,--or something a bit bigger if you want like run over a dog --watch it very carefully --where did it go?

No where, its dead , deceased,-- kick the bucket --why you are so important it must be different for you is all in your own self importance. How you could think or see anything and go somewhere else is astonishing nievity.

Did you see the Iraqis clutching a yellow plastic key when the US came over the dug out, they had no weapons just a key. This was the key to Allas house, Poor bastards but thats what they believe in. If the suicide bombers found out there was no Alla and certainly no virgins waiting for them you would have a world shortage immediately. When the suicide bombers found out Susan Boyle was a virgin they became difficult to recruit. Stop wasting your time with mumbo jumbo and enjoy your life without fear of god. be the very best person you can and enjoy the company and helping others, its very rewarding, go on --give it a go. You have nothing to lose. ;IDunno:

Hi Larry thank you for your reply. I most definitely am dissapointed in religion . I can see what it is and what its for. It is not needed today. It is based on dysfunctional social behavior of at least 2000 years ago. Dont do that' Why' because its not nice' but I like doing it' well dont ok' why '' because--- --because alla says so OK,---oh ok then. The bogy man will get you if you do that, Remember that one.

Its all bull I just cant believe any grown man today believes it. I am NOT religious but I am a far better man than any religious person I have ever met.

Muslims steal each others shoes outside the Mosque --its a joke to them to get some new shoes at the Mosque. They steal under cover so god cant see them. Christians --- hypocrites and bigots I wont even mention them. Jews well isnt that the same thing as a Christian and isnt a Catcholic a believer in the Virgin mary and Jesus, I thought Jesus was the king of the Jews. But Oh no they gotta fight each other over the interpretation of it. leave me well out of it, go bang you head on a wailing wall and waste your life. I like being me and in any case all I got to do is say sorry just before I die and I am forgiven anyway. So why not be a thief all through my life and say sorry at the end ---Oh please give me a break.

Alcohol, women, and motorcycles. Sounds like heaven to me!
You don't have to go that far Bangkok will do it. No churches though,--got Wats Budhism --now thats a religion I could use.

But Budhism is not a religion --it is a way of life, Dont kill anything , dont piss people off , be nice and leave the bathroom in a state you would wish to find it, Oh and most importantly--enjoy yourself, you wont be here long.

I could not put it better myself.

Which way did they go? the following was forward to me by me sister.

A grandmothers prayer....

Last Sunday, I heard a sweet elderly lady in the pew next to me saying a prayer. It was so innocent and sincere that I just had to share it with you:

"Dear Lord: The last four or five years have been very tough. You have taken my favorite actor - Paul Newman; my favorite actress - Elizabeth Taylor; my favorite singer - Andy Williams; my favorite author -Tom Clancy; and now, my favorite comedian – Robin Williams.

I just wanted you to know that my favorite politicians are Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and I have a special place in my heart for Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton too...

Amen"

I attended 12 years of Catholic schools ...first with the nuns 1 thru 6 and then with the Christian Brothers....yes they did have an order that were all educators...they were rather strict and for the most part didn't fool with you if you misbehaved...
They taught me true values and principles both religious and civilian...both my parents worked two different jobs to send their three sons to Catholic schools...
I know for sure that their hard work and sacrifices paid off in dividends that made us three much better persons than someone who was not taught the same values and principles..

Where do we go???? After we die......You're going to have to leave this world to find out for sure.....I don't think there is a hell , well maybe for all the ruthless killers of this world, one would hope so anyway ....
For the not so deserving there might be some place that you will be in limbo forever....
But I think that if you lead a good life and don't kill anyone , honor your Mother and Father, and at least like your neighbors you will find happiness somewhere....but I don't know for sure where that will be...

hopefully to a better place ...or at least to a place that's just as good as I have it now  Hope they have motorcycles, fish and some really nice golf courses with good weather 24/7/365

And if by chance that we might meet at that somewhere place ... the first beer is on me

For those who follow Christ, he tells us we will be with Him in paradise as exampled in Luke 23:43
And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”

Conversely, for those deny Him and who chose their own way,
Matthew 13:41-43
41 The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, 42 and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Wow...This is getting pretty harsh, telling people that if you treat almost everyone fairly, don't kill much or steal too much, and help little old ladies across the street, and render to all the myriad caesers, that you could still go to hell. That is the truth. But this is America, and it appears that the truth is fast being escorted to the border along with God to make room for a new and different gospel.... one that will land you in hell if you accept it and ignore the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
You can not, and I can not, and no one can work their way into heaven by any means known to man. I don't care what the Jehovah Witnesses told you if you were kind enough to let them in once. Hell will abound with both the self decieved and the self righteous. Yet repentence is a relatively simple procedure.

If I can't take my faithful dog "Luke" I may not go. And it would be nice if the welcoming committee consisted of a willing virgin and a bottle of Christian Brothers brandy.

Larry, where you go is something no one can answer. Therefore, I pounded out something fanciful on the keyboard. But I should have posted my pic with tongue-in-cheek, just for you. :big grin:

True, I do not have a definitive answer for where you may go. I don't use the little smilies as a rule. Those that came up after my generation, the gen exers, and their video children have a fondness for them. My guess is that not many 65 year old men see the need to be cool.
Since I quit drinking, my quality as an entertainer has faltered exponentially. I prefer to give people the right to interpret as they will. Show their true mindset, if they have one. Yet, "I would not have you ignorant" about your dog "Luke", so you ain't that disappointed after this life in the flesh is done.
While both Greek and Roman mythology maintain that a (usually, not always) three headed dog named Cerebrus guards the gates of hell, keeping the dead in, and the living out, then Willy Shakespeare mentions unleashing the "dogs of hell", I have read nothing in the Bible to indicate that our dead pets will greet us in heaven or hell.
Bottom line: satan is subtle, shrewd and a liar, he would deceive me into deceiving you to serve his purpose if he could. We will go to heaven or hell when we die. Choose.

Using smilies does not reflect a need to be cool. They help others determine where you're coming from, for example in my previous post if I had used a smilie you would have known that I was being facetious. As it is, you weren't sure, were you? Besides, I'm 71 and my grandkids think I'm cool. So, you wouldn't limit my use of them just because you don't, would you?

As to the where we go issue, you have already been informed by God as to where YOU will go, heaven or hell. You believe it and that takes faith (blind faith?). I don't have faith in a lot of things, and religion is one of them. I don't need any reward in heaven to lead a good life. I have decided to do that all by myself.

Naw, I would not deprive you of smilies, or anything else. My grand children are young, too, and their idea of cool is similar to mine at that age. Now I know better. They say I am cool the same way I thought my grand father was cool. They thought I was cool even while I drank, used drugs, lied, cheated, stole, chased women and smoked enough weed to fog up an outdoor stadium. They didn't know me other than that I was their "Pappy"
Good luck in working your way into heaven, you would be the first. The Bible says it is impossible for man to lead a "good" enough life to merit heaven. Some just sin less than others, thinking that is good enough.
Just so you know, my faith is not blind, it don't even need glasses or contacts. I have seen enough prayers answered, and of miracles great and small in my life, that the world can look at and never even see. That doesn't make me special, only aware.
Once more, I have nothing to do with religion, it is a satan inspired, man made institution to enable you to choose your way to hell. Denominations are religion. Within those denominations are some Christians, enough to constitute the "true church" who are not deceived by dogma or doctrine.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not "religion", as men see religion. Having faith in things not seen, is not "blind faith", it is faith. I am only a "follower" of Christ, as much as I am able, and I need no other label. If you have time, try reading the Bible, the New Testament first.
The Old Testament is a record of some things that happened before Christ was born. Some of it is interesting, but it concerns mostly the Jews, and their vacillating in and out of Gods guidance and protection, and I am not Jewish. There is religion as well as faith in the OT.

You have a religion and don't even know it. A religion of one. Custom made, by you, for you, and only you. You have the one true path to salvation. How do I know it? Because you say so.

As a follower of Christ, I have no religion. Christ is the only true path to salvation. I can offer you no religion, but I do strike a nerve every now and then. I can irritate atheists and agnostics with little or no effort.
