They did not have t.v. but many lost their heads in the bible.
When david killed goliath he cut off his head and took it back to his village on a sword. He left in in the village for the vultures.
John the Baptist was also beheaded.

Beheading your enemy is the surefire way of eliminating them. No chance of a resurrection if your head is gone, eh? Whatcha gonna do without your head? ......NADA!

When neanderthals roamed the planet in search of food for their survival..the survival of the fittest..warring with other similar groups and the taking of other lives...... ..what religion did they follow.... NONE....all they cared about was the fire, food and water.
So even without religion killing your enemy was commonplace
