The seat pan on my 800 collapsed due to corrosion.
I removed the cover and made up some templates using gasket material. I had some bits of 18 gauge sheet steel shoved in a corner, marked out, welded up, fitted to the bike, a little bit of trimming with the old angle grinder, total cost up to now, nothing but time. Slapped some red oxide on the pan.
Took it down to a local guy who had done some work for me in the past, 600 Thai Baht to recover, about $20 US.
OK, I wasn't expecting Corbin quality but the finished article was good enough for the old slapper I ride.

Re: $20 Seat
They would have cut out the rust and welded in new patches for the same price, maybe cheaper. You would have an original seat with original mountings.

Re: $20 Seat
No they would not because there was precious little to weld to and I made more substantial. mountings than the original.

Good looking seat. Gonna last you a long time.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

Sir Lechy.. I do believe that is the best $20 you ever spent. Being a real tightwad you are on the right track for sure. Nice work building the bones for the seat. Dave
