what's the best way to store a gas tank?
I've purchased and am interested in purchasing VS800 gas tanks as spares, but not quite sure how to store them so they don't rust out, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks

You would want to coat them internally with some sort of oil or corrosion inhibitor then seal the tank and store in as dry a place as possible.

That would work just make sure you get it to all the inside surfaces, the back corners always rust out first. Tape the top and bottom holes up with heavy duty tape, flex tape may be good. After shaking it around let it sit for a few minutes and drain any excess but don't rinse it. Then box it and keep it in a dry area.
If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

I would use Marvel Mystery Oil.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.
