Extend Positive Battery Post
FYI I've extended the positive battery post so it can be reached to jump the bike. I used a longer bolt with a sleeve over it. The sleeve came from an old electric lamp. Works great.

If you have any type of electrical issue, have your battery load tested before you do anything else. Any auto parts store will test it for free.

Thanks for the Picture there, Bip.
I see that you have the Wire Terminal up against the Battery Post,...held on by the "Sleeve" and Bolt,....right?

Actually on the bolt it is the sleeve, then a nut, then star washer, then wire terminal, then battery post, then a nut.
Hope that makes sense. I use a thin coat of vasiline to prevent corrosion.

Re: Extend Positive Battery Post
Just FYI but you can also jump the bike by connecting the positive jumper cable to the positive connection on the starter and then touching the negative cable to a grounded point on the bike (I use the bolt on the exhaust, you may get a small burn mark so try and hit a spot you can't see) . As soon as you touch the negative cable the starter will turn and the bike should start.

Sgtcall, I have used that system a number of times but it can be almost impossible if the clutch switch is working and you are alone. I really like the solution that Bip came up with. It would work well if you are by yourself with the safety equipment working.
It has a second advantage of being an easy hook up for a battery charger.

I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.
