Re: Slammed!!
There was a guy on the old board...went by Ricker I think. Modded the stock shocks. I followed his instructions. Can't remember exactly what I did but it worked a treat, and is still working. I think I cut out a couple of coils....not sure. I painted the coils to match the bike while I had em apart. Only issue is letting it down off the lift, I need to make sure the springs seat back into the top cups. That, and left hand hard cornering...scrapes the kickstand mount.

Re: Slammed!!
If you cut the coils, you should also cut and thread the stems to match.

Re: Slammed!!
Never did that & had no problem even with two -up riding.......I can see that being a problem if you cut more out as the shock would bottom out before the spring compressed.Lechy wrote:If you cut the coils, you should also cut and thread the stems to match.

Re: Slammed!!
Intetersting post. Must comment that 11" rear shock (aftermarket: dimecity cycle) a NO GO on my '04 VS1400 w/170/80-15 tire. Bottoms out with 160# solo rider. I did the R & R thing twice, grommets incl. Tire SLAMS fender. Best not 2 advise 11", waste of time and $. Wanna buy my 11" cheap?

Re: Slammed!!
I rode mine with 10.5" shocks for years. It only bottomed out when I rode two up. Now that I have a g/f, I put 11.5" shocks on. The best part was leaning in the curves. I used to have a spark shower. Was neat at night........ I wore a set of Nasty twins out that way....lol.
