So rear brake light switch is staying powered.. Did it just fail or what? Don't remember if I ever had this issue before. I press and depress but brake light stays lit. Thoughts?

There is a adjustment screw for the brake to take the pressure off the switch.

Yup rotate the switch in the mounting nut.

So the adjustment screw is not making contact when I press brake. When I release and pull it back.. It presses. Light stays on either way.

I used this skinny screw driver to press and let go of switch button several times and it started working.. Turning off and on.
Then it stopped working again (staying lit) and I don't know what the hecks going on. Lol.

Nav.. Is that for vs1400 or vs800... Doesn't look the same.

My bad, that's the 800.
Perhaps some penetrating fluid to free it up? :dunno:

I have had the same problem. Use something like PB Blaster and spray it under the rubber boot. One time my problem was the brake pedal pivot was gummed up and not completely returning so while you are at it spry the pivot well and work the brake pedal and linkage a bunch of times.

I discovered that pulling the brake pedal up hard would make it go off, that was how I knew that it was the brake pedal.

Yeah, sprayed it with pb and pivot point. Will check again tonight if it helps things. Will try getting under boot too.

That's a bit of an odd style switch to use for the rear - normally they use the type that nav has posted as they are more reliable when getting flung with dirt and crud.

Anyway - they are prone to getting crap in them and staying on / off so flushing them out with WD40 or PB Blaster every now and again is recommended.

Welp.. Not sure why but it seems that pushing down on the end of the switch box (marked by yellow x) makes the other end go up (under where pressure pin and adjustment screw are) and brake light goes off.

I don't recall if this thing is held in by more than one screw but I'm thinking it might be and either screw came out of other end or something broke loose..

Am I going to have to drop the peg for this? Lol.
Been a while... Lol.

I found a pic.. So yeah.. It's gotta be either missing screw or somehow broke off..
Oh fun...

According to the wiring harness parts diagram there are 2 screws on it.

It probably just vibrated out, and fell on the street.
Maybe there is enough room to wiggle another screw in there.
