It doesn' take nerve or courage to ride without a helmet, only a complete disregard for the potential stupidity of other drivers and ones own neglect of Murphy's Law. Life is too short to ride in the rain or the cold. There are other things to do. I speak from experience.

Clear the pipes. Used to do that with my moms in eclipse. Check engine light came on I drive it for a few days and it would be good for a few months.

According to the book I am reading. At least 3.5 hours away from any big city to be away from when stuff hits the fan.
