TAPS, did you know?

Post by BlacktopTravelr »

I found this on the Escapees website, a website for RV travelers. I found this story interesting as I knew nothing about the background on Taps, but now I do. This may have already been posted, but I am sure there are others that didn't know anything about the background on Taps either. Doing more research I found other stories on how Taps was first played. Go figure :bonk: .So here is the one I found on the Escrapees site..

TAPS the words:

Day is done…
Gone the sun…
From the lakes,
From the hills,
From the sky.
All is well…
Safely rest…
God is nigh.
Fading light,
Dims the sight,
And a star
Gems the sky,
Gleaming bright,
From afar,
Drawing nigh,
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise,
For our days,
’Neath the sun,
’Neath the stars,
’Neath the sky.
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

Touching. Did not load any more after TAPS.I had read in SCV mags that a member friend gives me that a POW from the South was the one that made it and first played at his brothers grave that died for the North? As most times anything but motorcycles my old brain brings up may be not all right?

THANK YOU !
Luck & Experience:
You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck
