WTB: Backrest Eliminators for 1400 Intruder
I want to remove the backrest from my '96 1400; I would prefer not to use sockets. Aluminum or chrome bushings are preferred, or the pieces that are utilized on the later model VS1400/S83 without the backrest. My signals are relocated as my LeatherLyke bags cover the original signal mounting locations so either solution works for me.

Ace Hardware sells chrome spacers in several sizes and lengths. Aluminum pipe is cut to length pretty easy too or just stainless steel washers would work. I thought about using aluminum flat stock at one time and making something that resembled the eliminator that Cobra sells but that never went any farther than an idea.

Does anyone have the dimensions needed to make a set of spacers up? I can get them turned-on a lathe. I know i could probably work it out with a micrometer, but why do the same job twice if the information is already out there. I can't find them in the UK, and can't get em shipped.. as the government hammer me for import duty on anything over £25 coming into UK from US, last time i tried that a rear wheel that cost me $45 on ebay, cost me $90 postage and £125 (about $180) in import duty and taxes.. yes you read that right!
If anyone has the dimensions for a set of spacer and can give me the measurements id be very grateful.

Honest to God guys...... sockets. They are chrome, they are the right size and they work.

If I were going to have a set made I would use a caliper and measure the thickness of the area in the sissybar where the bolt comes through. The front smaller bolt area is a little thinner than the rear big bolt area but they are the same in either side. For diameter I would make them roughly the same size as the flat area on the back of the fender strut.

WTB vs1400 sissy bar door w lock & key
Inside the sissy bar on vs1400 is the stock tool kit.
There is a cover (or door) with lock that has "studs" for passenger backrest.
I need that door with lock and key.

Mine appear to be just shy of .900" long.

Re: WTB: Backrest Eliminators for 1400 Intruder
Anyone have any luck here either finding the spacers or even the sockets that will fit?
